phil williams Having only just discovered the 2nd & 3rd albums 6 & 8 years late, I find a blessing of riches...
"Think I'm ready" is such a phenomenal opening track, then Vika & Linda!
Four Hrs Sleep have outdone themselves - as you might expect with such a talented team

Too hard to pick a fave track, maybe after a few months listening.
so many songs here that should be all over the airwaves in my opinion Favorite track: Think I'm Ready.

about

Four Hours Sleep are not a band to rush things. The group’s new self-titled record has arrived eight years after the epic 2006 release Love Specifics which itself landed ten years after the iconic (out of print) debut album More Of Her.

Drawing on the same core group of musicians (Bill McDonald, Angie Hart, Stephen Cummings, Peter Luscombe & Dan Luscombe)
plus a few new surprising guests, the music of FOUR HOURS SLEEP has grown in depth and sophistication, yet maintains the deceptive simplicity and emotional directness of the traditional rock trio.

Angie Hart and Stephen Cummings tackle the bulk of vocals with guests Vika and Linda Bull and Lilith Lane taking the lead on other
tracks. The diverse and eccentric musical guests, from the very funky Arne Hanna to Billy Miller on ebow celloguitar and Peter Knight from the Australian Art Orchestra on trumpet, show the range and depth of experience brought to the music. The album was mixed by Shane O’Mara and mastered by Casey Rice.

All the great singers give sparkling performances, which partially explains the long hiatus between FOUR HOURS SLEEP albums: ‘Getting these people together was never going to be easy, so recording would take place whenever and wherever possible, from a series of studios around the country to a mini-disk recorder at a train station,’ says Bill McDonald.

The last FOUR HOURS SLEEP album was described as ‘a soundtrack to a non-existent film’ and this album takes that theme to an even higher level. The songs shimmer with a cool cinematic quality and an evocative groove.
